Rolex UK, London, 2017 – The 2017 FORMULA 1 ROLEX BRITISH GRAND PRIX, held at Silverstone Circuit from 14 to 16 July 2017, is one of the greatest motor sport races in the world. The historical circuit hosted the very first round of the FIA Formula One World Championship™ when it began in 1950. Since then it has remained one of the oldest continuously staged Grand Prix’s in the FIA Formula One World Championship™, attracting  passionate racing fans from across the world. This year, Rolex will be the F1® Event Title Partner of the iconic British race. Rolex has a history of partnering global sporting events in the United Kingdom including the world’s oldest tennis competition, The Championships, Wimbledon; and the prestigious golf classic and third Major of the year, The Open Championship, as Official Timekeeper since 1981. A Global Partner and the Official Timepiece of Formula 1® since 2013, Rolex’s commitment to the leading motor sport series exemplifies the brand’s ongoing quest for excellence and for pushing the boundaries of human and technical performance.
Rolex Testimonee and three-time FIA Formula One™ Drivers’ World Champion, Sir Jackie Stewart, who won the FORMULA 1 BRITISH GRAND PRIX in 1969 and 1971, said: “I love coming to Silverstone year after year, the British fans are incredibly passionate and the Paddock thrives off the public’s enthusiasm and interest in motor sport. It will be a big weekend for British sport and for Rolex, with Wimbledon also concluding on the same day as the race. I look forward to being a part of Rolex’s on-going support of sporting excellence.” Rolex welcomed nine-time Formula 1® Grand Prix winner and 2015 FIA World Endurance Champion, Mark Webber to its family of Testimonees at the start of the 2017 season. A truly multi-talented motor racing driver, Mark Webber succeeded in both Formula 1® and endurance racing, competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship and racing at Europe’s oldest and most prestigious endurance race, 24 Hours of Le Mans. On winning the 2010 and 2012 FORMULA 1 BRITISH GRAND PRIX, Mark Webber said: “Having lived so close to Silverstone for many years, I have fond memories of racing and winning at this historic track. Silverstone has always been very fast, with its amazing sequence of corners; the change of direction at Becketts at maximum speed is astonishing and it will be  particularly special this year with the increased downforce and wider tyres of the new cars. The race will mark the half way point of the season so there will be lots to play for at this year’s 2017 FORMULA 1 ROLEX BRITISH GRAND PRIX.”
