Everything about this Proposal is Perfect - Rob and Emma

After 13 years with Emma, I decided it was the right time to pop the question. After deciding to get the ring from Cambridge, I came across Winsor Bishop. I knew roughly what I wanted and as soon as I saw the ring in the glass cabinet, I knew it was the one.

I took Emma to London for the weekend, which is where she is from as well as it being one of our favourite places. I had a work do the following day, which is the only reason she thought we were going. We checked into our hotel on the South Bank, who had kindly upgraded our room as I had let them know of the special occasion.

We then went for a stroll along the river. The nerves were beginning to set in and I was finding it difficult to disguise the well wrapped ring box in my coat pocket. It was just about dark and we sat on a bench overlooking the Millennium Bridge and St Paul's Cathedral. This area holds a place in Emma's heart as her Nan lived in the flats at this exact location for many years. We listened to a busker play 'Perfect' by Ed Sheeran (too cheesy?!) before I walked Emma onto the a grassed area in front of the Tate Modern away from the hustle and bustle of the South Bank. It was there I asked her the question and gave her the ring - of course she said yes!

We returned to the hotel to find a complimentary bottle of champagne on ice in our room, and we then went out for a nice meal and some drinks. The whole evening was perfect and Emma spent most of it wiping tears and smudged make up off her face!

Although the ring didn't fit, it was a lovely experience returning to the shop with Emma to have it resized and they made sure it was back in time for Christmas - we collected it on Christmas Eve! She is in love with the ring and I can't thank Melanie and her team enough for making the whole experience so special - from just browsing in the shop through to buying the ring and going back to have it resized. It was a very personal experience and they offer so much more than all the other jewellers I visited, especially the typical high street chains.

Thanks again :-)
