Rolex’s latest creations demonstrate its pursuit of excellence, unveiling updates to several of its most popular collections and one entirely new watch. The models revealed by Rolex at Watches and Wonders 2023 illustrate the brand’s perpetual desire to innovate while preserving a sense of continuity and tradition.

From updates to the entire Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona line, to two new versions of the Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II, to the entirely new Perpetual 1908, the watches unveiled demonstrate the vision that guides all levels of the Rolex creation process.

Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona

The emblematic style and technical performance of the Cosmograph Daytona have cemented its iconic status well beyond the motor racing circuit. To mark its 60^th anniversary, Rolex has revisited the entire range, with a high-precision rework of the case, dial and movement.

The new Calibre 4131 incorporates the Chronergy escapement, Paraflex shock absorbers and a new oscillating weight with optimised ball bearing. The new Rolex Côtes de Genève decoration is revealed through the transparent case back on the 950 platinum version, a first for this collection.

Perpetual 1908

The Perpetual 1908 is an entirely new timepiece, inspired by one of the first Rolex watches with a Perpetual rotor. Named for the year the ‘Rolex’ trademark was officially registered in Switzerland, this watch opens the Perpetual collection, which reinterprets the traditional wristwatch through the Rolex avant-garde lens.

Classic yet contemporary, the shape of the hands, the faceted hour markers and the fine fluting on the domed bezel are emblematic of Rolex’s watch-making heritage. A transparent case back reveals the Calibre 7140, featuring small seconds, Rolex Côtes de Genève decoration and a cut-out oscillating weight in 18ct yellow gold. The movement is designed and manufactured specifically for this watch, incorporating innovations that led to the filing of five patent applications.

This watch is available in 18ct yellow or white gold, with an intense white or intense black dial. It is distinguished by its slim case, mounted on an alligator leather strap with a green lining and featuring the new Dualclasp.

Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42

The new Yacht-Master 42 is the second watch Rolex has released in RLX titanium, following the Oyster Perpetual Deepsea Challenge. Light and robust, it is especially suited to the demands of competitive sailing, putting watchmaking excellence at the service of sporting performance.

RLX titanium is a particularly lightweight alloy with excellent corrosion-resistant properties and high mechanical strength. A combination of polished, high-sheen and technical satin finishes demonstrate the brand’s excellence in finishing techniques, creating a subtle play of textures and light.

Oyster Perpetual Sky-Dweller

With its two time zones and annual Saros calendar, the Sky-Dweller is a trusted companion for world travellers. Rolex has updated the range with the Calibre 9002, which incorporates the latest advances in Rolex technology, including the Chronergy escapement and new oscillating weight with optimized ball bearing.

Aesthetic options are offered through new dial and metal combinations. The 18ct white gold version features a bright black dial on an Oysterflex bracelet, fitted with an Oysterclasp and the Rolex Glidelock extension system. A delicate mint green dial is offered with white Rolesor, while an elegant blue-green dial appears with an 18ct Everose gold case on an Oyster bracelet.

Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II

For 2023, Rolex presents two new versions of the GMT-Master II: one in yellow Rolesor and one in 18ct yellow gold. The Cerachrom bezel insert on both is grey and black, an entirely new colour combination. The dark tones of the bezel and black lacquer dial contrast with the gold of the Jubilee bracelet and hands, evoking the alternation of day and night. Exemplary craftsmanship is borne out by the choice of materials and precision of the finishes, which come together to show the watch in its best light.

Oyster Perpetual Explorer 40

The Explorer was one of the brand’s first Professional watches, renowned for its simplicity and robustness. Rolex expands this range with a new 40 mm model, offering enhanced legibility while preserving all the qualities that have made the Explorer a reference through the decades. The new Explorer 40 is crafted from Oystersteel, a corrosion-resistant alloy specific to Rolex, and mounted on an Oyster bracelet equipped with Oysterlock clasp and Easylink comfort extension link.

Oyster Perpetual

Alive with colour, the new lacquered dial of the Oyster Perpetual is dotted with bubbles in the five hues introduced to the range in 2020. Offered in 31mm, 36mm and 41mm, this effervescent design is the product of masterful technique. The dial decoration is carried out in strictly controlled conditions and requires the utmost precision at every stage.

Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36

The new Day-Date 36 features dials made of decorative stone. Green aventurine, carnelian and turquoise are paired with cases in 18ct Everose, yellow and white gold respectively. Natural variation in the stone makes each dial unique. Each of these watches is a testament to the brand’s mastery of the gem-setting art, every dial finished individually to satisfy exacting quality requirements. The result is a union of exceptional stones, gems and precious metals which emphasises the prestige of this watch.
